What are some of the things you wonder about, things that you know you'll probably never hear discussed in church? Here's a few... When you watch religious movies, like those they show at Easter, or documentaries, when they show John the Baptist performing baptisms, that's about it, he's performing baptisms. So how was it baptism turned into an "event" with all that goes with them present day? This includes receptions afterwards, too. You certainly never see any depictions of post baptism receptions when John is portrayed. And how come you never hear it discussed that a very likely reason infant baptisms were started was simply infant mortality rates? In churches that practice infant baptism, when there is a baptism part of the ritual is for those present to renew their baptismal vows. Hello, how can you "renew" something you have absolutely no conscious memory of if you yourself were baptized as an infant? Everyone says, "Well your parents made your vows for you" - yeah- well that's just more reason to ask how you can renew them. __________________________________________________ Churches always like to talk about Middle-Eastern hospitality being so big back in Biblical times. How come no one ever mentions that as long as the host was sitting across the table sharing a meal with visitors he knew they weren't out back stealing his cattle? __________________________________________________ Why is it that priests and bishops have colorful "costumes" and we have robed choirs and such? Jesus was basically "grunge" when it came to clothes, no? It was the leaders of organized religion that wound up killing him that were into "fine threads", why keep that going? ___________________________________________________ -------------------- "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Here's another....
In the Garden of Eden Adam and Ever weren't eating manna - "Eat from any tree but this one" - so after the Fall when did manna come into play? - and if God wanted humans to be content with manna, why did He give them taste buds? -------------------- "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Manna came in the desert, during the exodus from Egypt. God sent that for the Israelites to have food during their journey.

Exactly. When God said "Go forth and multiply" certainly He didn't mean keep at it until half the world is starving, did He? -------------------- "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

He meant go forth and multiply, Go forth and have children. That's what he meant.

I know, but did He mean for people to have so many children that they couldn't feed them? Of course He didn't. -------------------- "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

I think he expected His children to help each other and not be greedy.

Well certainly He knew what was going to happen - or are we just an ant farm?
See what I mean? I know the stock answer to this is God provided the resources for enough food to feed the world, etc...and humans messed that up, but... -------------------- "America will never be destroyed from the outside. It's all about free will, Daniel. Sure He knew what would happen but we are still to abide by His Truth of what is right and wrong.

regarding infant baptism -- look at the Phillipian jailer -- it was he and he alone (the jailer) that had the conversion, that had the belief, yet he AND HIS ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD were baptized immediately -- it is not unreasonable to conclude that children were among the household, no?
the baptism of John the Baptist and Christian baptism = no same-same. ________________________________________________________________ How come Nativity scenes have the Magi present at the Manger? Warnt nobuddy at the manger but shepherds & angels -- Magi came later and found the "child" in the "house"; so there -- recall all them heretical Nativity scenes, also never said there was 3 Magi - just three kinds of gifts brought by them __________________________________________________________________ How many times did Jesus "cleanse the Temple" in Jerusalem? John's gospel places it right at the beginning of Jesus' ministry -- the synoptics have during the last week before Crucifixion -- to me it is too simplistic of an answer to say "oh well it MUST HAVE happenned twice" Hoo-wah ___________________________________________________________ didja ever wonder about Abraham and Sara -- how much we're told "oh they were too old - way too old to have kids" -- and yet even at their age -- Sara is so gorgeous that Abe has to HIDE THE FACT THAT THEY'RE MARRIED (pretending she's just a sister) so the Kings they encounter wont scarf up this hunnerd-year-old hottie fer themseffs... that happenned twice with Sara/Abraham and again with Isaac/Rebecca -- the same exact story three times with two differnt patriarch couples __________________________________________________________________ How did King Saul meet young David? As a Goliath-slayer or as a musician come to play the lyre for King Saul's manic troubles? Bible has BOTH different stories as "the way King Saul met the shepherd boy David. Which was it? ____________________________________________________________________ When Saul of Tarsus got "blinded by the light" and heard the resurrected Christ speak in the Hebrew language -- did the travelling companions of Saul/Paul HEAR the voice and not see the light -- or did they SEE the light and not hear the voice? Bible has it both ways, in different chapters of Acts it's one way then the other way about what Paul's buddies saw/heard... still bleev in INFALLIBILITY OF SCRIPTURE? C'mon -- it's there in black and white _______________________________________________________________ How come Matthew ascribes a prophecy of Zechariah to Jeremiah? _________________________________________________________ what is a "Bobech"? When Lot and his family were told no to look back, and Lot's wife did and was changed into a pillar of salt, how did Lot know what happened to her without he also looking back, huh?

God told him, he didn't need to look back when God was talking to people them in a completely different way.
