I have searched different sites and have come across Adobe, Acrobat Adobe, Adobe reader, Acrobat Reader, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe reader 8.1.2. , Adobe 3D, 8.1.2., and vary 3-9.

Also flash Adobe...and others.

So how do I know what I want? I think I just need to open up PDF files (photos included).

While I had Adobe 9 downloading, one of the replies from someone said the 9 crashed their school compters and can't work with firefox 3. After reading those 2, I canceled the download........

Kevin
I think you are making mountains out of molehills, Pam. If all you need is to be able to read PDFs then Adobe Reader is fine. I have Adobe Reader 9 and it works ok with Firefox 3.

I could be making mountains out of mole hills.....to a point.
But at the same time, all of the puters I have had, already had it installed. I never had to think about it, nor have I had to decide which one was better.

Because there are a lot of things about the puter that I don't understand, I don't want to download something that will crash it or download something from the wrong source.

But I do thank everyone that has given me help and/or places to check out.

On The Adobe Reader 9, they ask for SP2 - SP3 on XP's. So with things like that...what is SP2 and SP3 or does it matter? rolleyes.gif
Kevin
SP2 and SP3 refer to Windows Service Packs. If your operating system is up to date then you should have those. If you're unsure, go to Windows Update and check. It should tell you whether or not you need to download any Windows updates.

After Adobe downloaded, Candles and IE wouldn't open and my windows Messenger locked to busy.
I went into Add/Remove programs and a bunch of adobes/flash/readers where in there. So I uninstalled in case something wrong happened.

Now, I can get to candles;YEESH!

Then, as I read this post, I went into Windows update and shows 26 items- SP3 being one of the 26, needed to download. As it was beginning to download, it said 7 hours plus. So I canceled for now.....I wish I knew what the flip I am doing....

should I just let it down load for 7 hours?
Kevin
When you don't plan on doing much on the computer for 7 hours, go ahead. You should still be able to surf and check email though.

OK, I have 2 hours downloading. The critical ones. I went into my Scentsy website, and I need flash, so that's downloaded. But Foxfire wouldn't allow Adobe 9. Perhpas after I download that SP3, adobe will work??????

I wonder why IE 7 lines up this page, but Firefox doesn't?

I am on my daughter's puter as mine is STUCK!!!
This "Roxio" was one of the Windows upgrades. I keep getting a message "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

Then it says to click OK or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "UM MSI" in the box below. The box doesn't offer it and when I typed it in, it still didn't work!

It will NOT close out, the tower won't let me shut it down, the puter will not let me reboot, nor turn off.

This "Roxio Update Manager" will not allow me to remove it off of the screen. I even clicked on canel.

This is the exact crazy stuff I was afraid would happen.....

I have been getting this update for Roxio a couple of times and I would click remind me in 2 days.....Why would windows give me an update and then something like this happen?
SONshines
I think I know why it won't close. (I hope anyway) At the bottom of my screen is a yellow shield that says it's 58% updating. I am assuming after the 2 hours of downloading of the Windows update, it now has to spend another 2 hours updating? I wonder if it's Norton???

But still, why would that keep this "Roxio" stuck? I went into my prgrams and Registered the Roxio, thinking maybe becuase it wasn't reg., it wasn't set up. But that didn't help either. So, I guess I wait until everything finishes and hope it goes away when it let's me reboot.....
SONshines
Still was stuck, so I hit the main switch and that seemed to deal with it.

I have again tried to download adobe reader, and "Firefox" has a bar drop down and stating that Firefox prevented the download...?
